crashinglybeautiful:

The Universe Sequence from Terrence Malick’s Film: The Tree of Life. Thanks for the find, bibliokept.

A beautiful sequence with a wonderful score, marred, as with the dinosaur scene later in the film, by shitty animation. I was bothered by the field of star *in front* of all the celestial objects as a way to create a sense of forward motion. It works in that you feel like you’re moving through the objects, but it’s hilariously bad if you stop and consider it for a moment that the stars or objects or dust particles or whatever should grow in intensity until they leave your field of view and not before. A famous animation does this simply and in a way we expect here.

I cannot wait until someone does a fan edit in the style of the star Wars re-edits to replace all of that animation and leave the rest of the film untouched.
