“Soviet pilots from the women’s 46th Guards Night Bomber Aviation Regiment, Heroes of the Soviet Union Rufina Gasheva (left) and Natalia Meklin a Po-2 aircraft. Some of the most successful pilots of the Soviet military aircraft on combat missions.
Rufina S. Gasheva (b. 1921) - navigator during the war flew 848 sorties. Natalya F. Meklin (Kravtsov) (1922-2005) - a pilot, 980 combat sorties.”
The 46th Guards Night Bomber Aviation Regiment also had a nickname:
The Night Witches

I bet there’s a really great historical novel in here someplace.
